Along The River Cam to Waterbeach (almost)

A day off but the weather is really grotty. What to do?
I needed to go to Cambridge anyway, so decided to explore the river, having never been further than Midsummer Common.

I took my bike on the train. Once I had finished my errands in the town centre I set off along Trinity street and Thompson's Lane (closed for demolition work) to meet the river at Jesus green.

Riverside Bridge.

Basically I just rode along the towpath. It was very quiet, just the occasional dog-walker and runner.
It was drab and dreary, but very peaceful.
A maintenance gang was trimming overhanging trees and I had to stop and wait until it was safe for me to pass.

Along the river

I sat and ate a rather late lunch just past the bridge at Waterbeach. I decided to leave exploring the village itself for another trip when I can arrive earlier.

I returned to Cambridge by riding south through Haslingfied and Fen Ditton, then re-joining the river at Ditton Fen.

The river is high, but I expect locals are used to it
